Medicaid / Medicare Savings Program (MSP)

The local state government provides programs for low-income individuals that can help you with the costs of your medical insurance. For more information, reach out to the Washington State Health Care Authority or the Department of Social Health Services.

Medicaid/MSP is NOT insurance. If you find out you are eligible, please contact us, as eligibility for Medicaid qualifies you for special Medicare plans with additional benefits.

Extra Help / Low Income Subsidy (LIS) Program

The Federal government provides a program that helps low-income individuals pay for their prescriptions. We recommend applying for Medicaid first, as they may also help you apply for LIS at the same time. If you don’t qualify for Medicaid, you may still qualify for LIS.

LIS is NOT insurance and requires you to be on a “Part D” Prescription Drug in order to work. If you find out you are eligible, please contact us, we can assist you in choosing the right Part D plan and checking to see if you qualify for plans with additional benefits.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Different from Social Security retirement and disability benefits, SSI provides monthly payments to people with limited income and resources who are aged 65 or older, as well as those who are blind or have a disability.

Financial Assistance/Charity Care

Most large hospital networks (like MultiCare, CHI Franciscan, Virginia Mason, UW/Valley, Pacific Medical Centers and many more) have their own financial assistance programs and the income limits are frequently higher than those on Medicaid. So if you don’t qualify for state or federal support, reach out to your hospital network to see if they have a program that may help you with your healthcare costs.

Financial Assistance is NOT insurance. To learn more about how financial assistance can work with your insurance, give us a call and we’ll review all your options.

Medicare Giveback Programs

There are a lot of specialized plans and programs in the world of Medicare. Some plans are especially created for Veterans and TRICARE members. These programs help lower the cost/premium of Original Medicare and add additional benefits.

Giveback options can be available on plans with or without prescription coverage depending on state and county. To find out if you may have giveback options, give us a call.

Long-Term Care Medicaid

As we grow older, we may need assistance at home or at a long-term care facility. The costs of such help can be prohibitively high. To help with those costs, you or your family member may be eligible for a special type of Medicaid that is specifically aimed at assisting with the costs of in-home or facility care. Most think that you have to spend down all of your savings and income in order to qualify for Medicaid, but that is not always the case.
